Eat This: Pig and Fig Flatbread at BodoVino
For Mother's Day, BodoVino partnered with nearby Lit & Co. Candles to offer a special package: Make a candle with your mom, then head to BodoVino for a glass of wine, a flatbread and a dessert for $49. From the dozens of scents available at Lit & Co., my mom and I both opted for the surprisingly manly combo of leather, barnwood and Kentucky bourbon. While we were waiting for our rustic soy candles to set, we grabbed a window-side seat at BodoVino and ordered a couple glasses

Eat This: Red Feather's Chorizo and Truffled Potato Pizza
Red Feather Lounge is now serving a chorizo and truffled potato pizza topped with pickled onions and lemon-dressed arugula. It's about as greasylicious as it gets, and damn good with a hefty brew, like Deschutes' 2014 Abyss. #redfeather #pizza #review

Review: El Cafetal Colombian Restaurant
Some lunches necessitate a nap. Indian buffets, for example, with their rich coconut curries, fried samosas and plump pakoras, always have me yawning before I've finished my naan. Now there's a new cuisine to add to my list: Colombian food. Teeming with carbs of every kind—plantains, potatoes, rice, corn, yucca—this fare is not for the faint of appetite. At El Cafetal, between Kibrom's Restaurant and The Goodness Land in the Boise International Market, the deep fryer is alway

Where to Find Awesome Coffee in Boise
Unlike our West Coast neighbors, Boise hasn't really jumped on the Third Wave coffee train. It's slim pickings if you want a properly pulled espresso made from locally roasted Fair Trade beans. But on the bright side, that means Boise lacks some of the coffee pretention you'll find in bigger cities. No one's going to lecture you on the difference between a latte and a flat white or refuse to serve you sugar or soy milk. Here are a few of my favorite local spots that consisten

Eat This: Fork's Fried Chicken and Waffle Sliders
Fried in a lightly crispy batter that barely clings to the chicken, Fork's fried chicken brunch sliders get most of their crunch from thick, cratered waffles. Served with a side of orange butter blended with floral local honey and a ramekin of balsamic-infused maple syrup, these skewered breakfast buddies are both savory and sweet. They also boast a lovely Southern charm that dissolves as soon as you try to cram one inelegantly into your mouth. #fork #review #sliders

Review: The Goodness Land
As muffled cheers from a TV soccer game echoed in the distance, Salam Bunyan skewered hunks of raw chicken, slabs of lamb and citrus coins onto a large spit. Spinning the block of meat slowly with one hand, he shaved off thin slivers with the other to form a cylinder, packing the excess bits on top of the pile as he went. Bunyan owns The Goodness Land, an Arabic restaurant that opened in the Boise International Market in mid-December, and prides himself on making everything f
